[ there's plenty of people rita likes on this station (and some that she's not sure she likes much at all, based on recent interactions), but there are a few in particular that have a way with becoming a soothing balm to the ache of anxiety in her chest just from a simple message.
andy's helped her get as far as she has, even if she's wondering if she's cycling back more steps than she can count after that little public outburst. but still, it's relieving to hear from her. ]

[ following rita's lead it's also half a joke, half not, but andy will allot those five minutes, spending the time digging around for one of the better bottles of vodka she has tucked away in her hoard, before she makes her way to rita's room and knocks at the door. ]

[ and if andy had made the comment, she's sure she might have tossed back some vaguely flirtatious reply in return, perhaps under a different mood where she wasn't feeling as distraught as she is now. right now, though, what she simply needs most is a friend. it's during these times, she'd be keen to run to larry, to vent all of her thoughts and problems, to simply have him listen as he's always done, holding her hand when she needs it most.
she's felt lonely without him, admittedly. but she's come to realize that not having larry here doesn't necessarily mean she's alone. when she hears the knock at the door, she's reminded of that.
upon standing and opening the door, rita only allows for a few spare seconds in making sure it's andy there before she simply steps forward without a word, bringing her arms around the other woman just for the much needed reassurance of her presence there. ]
[ andy enjoys their flirty banter and the genuine undercurrent to it on her part, but right now she is mostly focused on offering a hug. it feels like such a simple thing to do, a gift she can share that doesn't beget violence, but that skill isn't usually what people associate her with on board. ]
